How did I get so much stuff?!

I'm moving this Friday, so I've slowly been packing up all of my belongings. How in the hell have I accumulated so much stuff!!!? Really though - over the past few months I've spent a significant amount of time and energy throwing away all of the clutter that has taken over my life - so how is it that I have so many boxes of so much crap left?

Now - to be honest - 8 of the 12 boxes are kitchen items; and I'll admit that I haven't thrown away any of my culinary gadgetry. I can't seem to do it. I love it all so much and I actually use it, so there's really no need to throw it away.

The rest of my apartment (except for books and clothes of course) can fit into two boxes, and I really kind of like it that way. I can't stand knick knackery, so it's been nice (and cathartic) to throw it all away. I've kept anything with significant sentimental value, but thrown away all the rubbish.

Before Rich and I moved in together I went through all of my stuff and threw out all the silly little gifts from ex-boyfriends, so at least I don't have that to contend with. The next item on my agenda will be clothing.

Since I've started the purging process, I feel like I want to get rid of everything. I want to be able to pack my life away in one suitcase and not feel so bogged down with stuff. I know I'll never actually get to that stage (mostly because I have about 4 suitcases of clothes), but it feels nice to get rid of most of the crap.

And since I've been going through all of my stuff - I'm finally finding all of the books that I've been given but hadn't read yet. I'm reading "About A Boy" by Nick Hornby right now (I know - I'm about 3 years too late on this one), and I really like it. I never saw that movie, but I tend not to like movies about books I've read - so I suspect I'll never see it now.

Now that's some good blogging! Can't wait to read more. I'll be back for another dose.

I have a custom pen site. My site covers custom pen related stuff. It's a pretty cool site with a bunch of custom pen examples.
I hope you enjoy!

I totally understand what you mean. I basically have to cram my life into two suitcases and 140 lbs and I still have too much stuff left behind. I don't know where it all comes from!!!
