30.....Whoa.

So I turned 30 this past Friday....scary.

My mother-in-law flew me down to Austin with her so that we could be at Scott's sister's bridal shower (J's shower). We got there on Thursday night and J and I ended up staying up until the wee hours talking, watching the wedding video and basically crying and holding hands like a bunch of idiots all night. It was quite fun...or funny...or both - especially when I climbed into bed with Matt, her fiance...not as scandalous as it sounds...more of minor mistake - I think I was trying to escape J's loud snores on the couch.

The next morning however, was not fun. Nothing like spending the morning of your 30th birthday sleeping on a love seat and trying to wait for the pain in your temple to subside.....but by the time we got over to Kim's place (Scott's other sister) for dinner - we were feeling ok.

We had a great dinner and played with the kids for a while. Then Scott's brother (Greg) and his girlfriend (Crystal) showed up. We all (minus the kids and Kim's hubby Dan - his turn to watch the kids) went back over the J's place to hang out. Everyone kept talking about Sharon wanting to go out for a birthday drink (we share the same birthday). I really didn't understand why she wanted to go out for a drink at 11pm - she doesn't seem like a "party girl".

The first place "wasn't the atmosphere" that we were apparently looking for - so we ended up at Chili's...

Greg had gone out to meet a friend that had left their belt in Dallas the weekend before when they were visiting. So he showed up at about 11:45. The next thing I knew there was someone leaning over the booth behind me with a rose in their hand - it was Scott!

It was a GREAT birthday surprise. I was completely oblivious to the LIES that his whole family had been telling me...

The next morning we were all hanging around until we had to leave for J's shower. The doorbell kept ringing and J kept asking me to go get it. Even when I was in the middle of doing dishes - odd. So the third time I went to get the door - it was my parents!!!! They flew into Houston and then drove to Austin to surprise me!

It was great. If D&S had been there it would have been completely perfect - but it was still pretty damn great.

Of course this also means that my parents, husband, in-laws, brother, and his wife are all liars....
